So how heavy are we talking? Take a guess … 1 million? 2 million? 4 million? Nah, not even close. The EU has invested nearly 6 million dollars into blockchain startups.
Thanks to Horizon 2020, the EU’s largest Research and Innovation program to ever sweep the nation. Nearly €80 billion of funding has been made available over 7 years (2014 to 2020) — that’s a whole lot of cash.
A few lucky startups involved in blockchain technology have received millions of dollars in funding. The EU also looks to launch a Blockchain Observatory that will:
-Provide relevant data on Blockchain use around the world
-Follow developments of this technology and how it will impact EU as a whole
-Build a platform for a European blockchain community
EU is taking incredible strides forward in developing a system that will progress blockchain technology. It will be exciting to see what countries follow suit and develop their own blockchain initiatives.
Do you know of any other countries taking similar steps forward in Blockchain technology? Tweet @StarterNoise.
