MakeLoveNotPorn is Reimagining the Way We Think about Porn

Chances are, most of us have dabbled with watching porn. It’s easily accessible and, with just the click of a button, millions of videos are viewable at your disposal.

But, have we ever thought about how realistic these videos are? Or where they come from? Are the actors actually enjoying themselves? Is it all fake?

We had the pleasure of chatting of with Cindy Gallop, Founder and CEO of MakeLoveNotPorn, who opened our eyes into the world of sexual wellness. And, as Cindy said it best, “if porn is the Hollywood movie, we [MakeLoveNotPorn] are the real world documentary.”

So what is MakeLoveNotPorn?

Their website states, “we’re pro-sex, pro-porn, pro-knowing the difference – and very, very pro-your joining us!”

Essentially, MakeLoveNotPorn is the world’s first and only user generated human curated social sex, video-sharing platform. But it doesn’t stop there.

Cindy explained, “twelve years ago, I decided to make MakeLoveNotPorn centered around what everybody else should have, and nobody else did, human curation. So, there is no self-publishing of anything on MakeLoveNotPorn — nobody else does that. Our curators watch every single video that is submitted from beginning to end before we approve or reject it, and we publish it — nobody else does that. We review every outrageous review, every post on every member profile, photos, texts, illustration art, before we approve and publish it — nobody else does that. We review every single comment on every single video before we approve and publish those comments — nobody else does that.”

So, MakeLoveNotPorn is an incredibly safe space not only for those submitting content but also for subscribers. Overall, the platform creates a healthy space for people to learn about their bodies, experiment, and see real, authentic sex.

We asked Cindy why she thought so many people struggle with talking about sex and view sex, which is a natural, human behavior, as taboo. Cindy shared that she saw it to be a three-part issue: (1) repression stemming from religion and sexual-cultural dynamics, (2) patriarchy, and (3) not enough people trying to make a change.

Cindy is truly inspiring with her determination to see change in the porn industry. She explained, “the world makes it extraordinarily difficult to disrupt and innovate social narratives around sex. I know many people who’ve cried and given up, and I don’t blame them. I, and my tiny team, fight a huge battle every single day to keep MakeLoveNotPorn alive, let alone grow it … And so we need many more sex tech founders like myself. And luckily there are more and more of them who will not give up no matter what.”

We asked Cindy for advice to share with our readers — “I would love to say to our audience, please join us at MakeLoveNotPorn. Sign up and take on a subscription. They start at $10 a month—very affordable. Do consider becoming a MakeLoveNotPorn star. Our MakeLoveNotPorn stars tell us that socially sharing their real-world sex has been as transformative for them and their relationships as socially sharing everything else that’s good for the world at large.”

We are so blown away by Cindy’s efforts to break down barriers and create a safe space for her subscribers. MakeLoveNotPorn is transforming the sexual wellness space, and we are so thrilled we had a chance to chat with Cindy and share with you all.
