Sign, Click, Deliver … Land Your Dream Job

We’ve all been there … job hunting and sending out what seems like a million emails a day—hoping that some company will take notice and want to hire you. Now let’s look at this same exact situation from a company’s point of view. They are receiving over a million emails a day and nearly all of them look as professional and cookie-cutter as the last. So why not let your email outshine all the rest?

Here is a step-by-step guide to make your intro email to prospective employers pop.

Study the company well. Know what they do, why they do it, and what their goals are.

1. Compliment the company about their amazing work and why you’re a fan.

2. Tell the company that you have something that they are missing. Be explicit and direct. Sell yourself as the answer to their problem.

3. Give some background and segway into an accomplishment or achievement that you have had in the past with a similar company or position.

4. Thank them for their time and willingness to hear what you had to say.

5. Make a ‘call to action’… Ask them out for coffee or lunch on a certain day/time.

6. Sign your name with contact info.

Then you play the waiting game to see if you get any bites. But putting yourself out there in a unique way that highlights your skills is beyond useful. Hopefully with these quick email tips, you get a few more responses—or better yet, a coffee date with your dream company.
